Hamburg, Germany – 8 September 2026

Pashmin Art Publisher has developed a distinctive international publishing program that brings together artists, writers, art historians, curators, museums and cultural institutions. Its publications range from substantial artist monographs and critical art books to exhibition catalogues that preserve major international projects long after the exhibitions themselves have closed.

MORE THAN 50 PUBLICATIONS SINCE 2003  |  24 BOOKS & ARTIST MONOGRAPHS  |  EXHIBITION CATALOGUES & INTERNATIONAL EDITIONS

A Publishing Program with a Broad Range

The publishing activities of Pashmin Art extend well beyond a conventional catalogue program. Since 2003, the publisher has produced more than 50 publications in total. Of these, 24 are books and artist monographs, while the remaining publications consist primarily of exhibition catalogues documenting international art projects, participating artists and cultural collaborations.

This body of work reflects more than two decades of sustained engagement with contemporary art. The program includes individual artist monographs, retrospective volumes, critical and academic art publications, multilingual books, exhibition catalogues and publications that connect visual art with literature, music, philosophy and cultural research.

The Artist at the Centre

At the heart of Pashmin Art Publisher’s work is the individual artist. Its books are conceived not simply as collections of images, but as lasting documents of an artist’s development, visual language, biography and intellectual context. High-quality reproductions are combined with essays, interviews, biographical material and contributions by art historians, critics, curators and other specialists.

Across its publishing history, Pashmin Art Publisher has presented a wide spectrum of artistic positions and generations. Its 24 books and artist monographs include publications devoted to artists such as Fariba Roostaei, Brigitte Simon, Davood Roostaei, Victor Shtivelberg, Werner Erlacher, Michael Sazarin, Brigitte Espenhain, Andreas Eiserbeck, Wolfgang Kluge, Helga Kreuzritter, Patrick Bubna-Litic, Ralph Hübschmann, Julius Voegtli, Kalchie and Olena Linse, among others.

From Early Monographs to Major Recent Publications

The range of the book program is visible across titles produced over different periods. Early publications documented artists such as Fariba Roostaei, Brigitte Simon, Davood Roostaei, Werner Erlacher and Victor Shtivelberg. Later monographs include Michael Sazarin’s Storm of Colors, Brigitte Espenhain’s Transformation, Andreas Eiserbeck’s Signs of Voyage, Wolfgang Kluge’s The Rainbow Man and Patrick Bubna-Litic’s The Color of Music.

Five Decades of Sculpting and Painting presents an extensive examination of Helga Kreuzritter’s artistic career, while Metamorphoses explores the work of Ralph Hübschmann. The large-scale publication devoted to Julius Voegtli documents the Swiss pioneer of Impressionism in three separate language volumes – German, English and Chinese.

More recent projects continue this international approach. KALCHIE: Ein Gebet in Farben / A Prayer in Colors was produced as a German-English bilingual publication as well as a separate Chinese edition. In 2025, Pashmin Art Publisher released Olena Linse: Labyrinth, a 305-page German-English book exploring philosophical, political and aesthetic dimensions of the artist’s work.

Books Beyond the Traditional Monograph

Pashmin Art Publisher also produces books that cross disciplinary boundaries. Peterchens Mondfahrt – 100 Gedichte aus 50 Jahren creates a dialogue between poetry and visual art, while Steven Lewis Malski’s The Power of Art in Healing and Transformation brings academic research, creative practice and questions of transformation into the sphere of art publishing.

Such projects demonstrate the publisher’s broader understanding of the book as a cultural medium in its own right – a space in which image, typography, scholarship, criticism, literature and artistic expression can be brought together.

An Extensive Exhibition Catalogue Program

Alongside its 24 books and artist monographs, Pashmin Art Publisher has produced a substantial range of exhibition catalogues. These publications document international group exhibitions, museum projects, cultural collaborations and the individual artists participating in them.

Titles such as Borders & Bridges and Locality and Multiculturalism: vibrARTion of Three Cities illustrate this aspect of the program. Exhibition catalogues serve both as records of specific events and as independent resources containing images, essays, curatorial texts and contextual material. In this way, temporary exhibitions are transformed into permanent cultural documents.

The catalogue program is closely connected to Pashmin Art’s wider activities in galleries, museums, international exhibitions and cross-border cultural projects. It also explains the scale of the publisher’s overall output: more than 50 publications in total, comprising 24 books and artist monographs together with a broad body of exhibition catalogues.

Publishing Across Languages and Cultures

A defining feature of Pashmin Art Publisher is its international and multilingual orientation. Depending on the artist, exhibition and intended readership, publications have appeared in German, English, Chinese, Italian and in bilingual or trilingual combinations.

The publisher’s multilingual strategy reflects Pashmin Art’s wider commitment to cultural exchange between Europe, China and other international art contexts. Translation is therefore not treated merely as a technical stage of production, but as part of the editorial concept: enabling artists, ideas and critical texts to circulate between different cultural and linguistic audiences.

Art Books as Permanent Cultural Documents

Exhibitions are temporary; books and catalogues remain. For Pashmin Art Publisher, publication is a means of preserving artistic development, intellectual context and exhibition history for future readers, researchers, collectors and institutions.

Each publication is developed through close cooperation with artists and contributors, with attention to photography, artwork reproduction, editorial quality, translation, typography and design. The result is a publishing program that functions simultaneously as documentation, scholarship, cultural mediation and artistic presentation.

More Than Two Decades of Publishing

From its earliest monographs to recent multilingual books and international exhibition catalogues, Pashmin Art Publisher’s program reflects the continuing evolution of Pashmin Art itself: international, interdisciplinary and committed to dialogue across cultural boundaries.

With more than 50 publications since 2003 – including 24 books and artist monographs, alongside an extensive catalogue program – Pashmin Art Publisher has assembled a substantial printed archive of artists, exhibitions, research and critical writing. Its publications demonstrate the enduring role of art publishing in documenting artistic legacies, supporting scholarship, preserving exhibitions and connecting artists with audiences across the world.
